My top 10 #asundaycarpic Instagram snaps

My love for cars is definitely something I’ve gleaned from my dad. Since I was knee-high I remember his love for a mean machine. From his emerald green Audi in the 80s to his BMWs and Mercs that took him through the 90s until present day. His passion eventually led him to run his own motor spares shop for 30 years, only retiring last year. Easy to see now where my joy of cars comes from. Like the saying goes, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Living in London, you’re never short of seeing a classic car or two on your daily walks. The old school, smooth, vintage numbers get my Insta-eye all excited. Combine that with a London townhouse backdrop and you’ll find me in a camera clicking frenzy. So much so that my 8-year-old now will make Mr S stop the car so ‘mummy can get out and take a snap’ of the car she’s spotted. It’s all about moulding your young hey?!

You can imagine my delight when I discovered the community #asundaycarpic on Instagram. Finally a place where I could channel my love for all things metal and fast-moving. Every Sunday this community brings Instagrammers together cooing over their recent car discoveries from the streets all over the world.

I’m lucky enough not to have to travel out of the Borough of Islington to get my weekly dose. So get comfy and take a whistle-stop tour of my #asundaycarpic meanderings around my neighbourhood:

This snap hits so many Insta clichés. Just look at it –  London townhouse, bike and vintage car. An irresistible camera click.

Like my Instagram caption says. This gorgeous white 1950s Porsche wasn’t even on my radar, in my hurried Saturday morning chores rush around Islington. My 8 year stopped me and pointed it out. Good job really. It’s a beaut.

We used to own a VW beetle albeit a left hand drive one Mr S bought one back from his days in Switzerland. It’s the old school ones I love the most though.

VW Campervans will always hold a special place in mine and my family’s heart. My Dad drove a classic orange one in the 70’s all the way from Manchester to India. Yes, you read that correctly! But that’s a whole other story.

Vibrant colours. Exactly what you need when on the afternoon school run. I couldn’t ignore this colourful door and car combo.

Now for a second I thought I was on the streets of India when I spied this Ambassador on my way to Upper Street. There it stood gleaming with a slightly dirty backside, but we’ll ignore that bit.

How perfectly good-looking is this Morris Minor? It’s always parked outside my Doctors surgery but usually covered up. Oh the joy when I saw it uncovered revealing its beauty.

When a car matches its surroundings, it’s a sure fire high-five moment for any Instagram junkie. Perfection.

This was taken on a classic late Sunday afternoon drive back from somewhere. Where I got Mr S to ‘STOP’ the car. Jump out. Kids rolled their eyes in the back. Jump back in the car and continue on the planned route.

Ok, so technically this Mazda MX5 is no vintage car, but it looks super cool outside this rather spectacular house. I’d love to live on Canonbury Square. Well who wouldn’t!

I love this house with its autumnal colour car parked outside. Two seconds before taking this shot the owner with a giant Dalmatian walked inside. If only I was a bit quicker with whipping my camera out. It would have made for a magnificent shot! . . . . . #asundaycarpic #islington #igerslondon #prettylittlelondon #prettycitylondon #thisislondon #loves_london #thelondonlifeinc #huffpostgram #london_only_members #housesofldn #timeoutlondon #streetphotography #soloparking #travelblogger #travelgram #wanderlust #rainbow_wall #carsofinstagram #nothingisordinary #soulcarcollective #popyacolour #drivetastefully #pursuepretty #carspotting #flashesofdelight #chasing_facades #wundrouslondon #capturingbritain #citylife_nio
