With temperatures dropping, darker nights and scarf season upon us, I’m huddled up with my hot water bottle under a cosy blanket and find myself reminiscing about holidays of yore. For this post I’ve decided to rewind to Easter 2015, to the Mediterranean island of Sicily.
German poet Johann Goethe once said after travelling through the island in 1787 “To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is to have not seen Italy at all. For in Sicily lies the key to everything”.
Being a frequent traveller to the land of pizza and pasta (at least once a year for this Pixie). I took those wise words to heart and didn’t waste anymore time to see this glorious island.
This is a snapshot of the seven days spent in Southern Sicily where we enjoyed trips into the Sicilian countryside and were blown away by impressive Greek temple complexes like Agrigento. I hope you enjoy my postcards from Southern Sicily.
Have you ever been to Sicily? What did you love about it? If not, would it be on your wanderlust list? Let me know in the comments below or at:
