Many believe booking a facial is something you do only to treat yourself. Well…Think again! Yes it can be expensive, but take a moment to think about where you spend your money instead.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary facial, however, all views, opinions and photos are my own and remain a copyright of the Curious Pixie unless otherwise stated.
Facial Treatment in London
Are you a hoarder of lots of lotions and potions to help achieve the super smooth wrinkle free skin of your youth? I know. I was the same. Until I discovered the secret of the facial. It’s so much more than just an hour of indulgent pampering.
Benefits of A Facial Massage
Research shows a facial massage aids to activate the sympathetic nervous system which reduces anxiety levels and helps to lift your mood. In other words there are a multitude of pressure points on your face connected to various systems in your body. Think of a professional face massage as an exercise for your face. Not only does it preserve your skin glow but influences the function of the other organs within your body.
What is a Holistic Facial?
Now a holistic facial differs from that of a regular one. The treatment goes deeper, working on your mind, body and soul.
Where to Get a HolisTic Facial in London?
Recently I was invited to Fortnum and Mason’s in Piccadilly to experience the Marie Reynolds Holistic Signature Facial.
Ez Dyer, is an experienced therapist at Fortnum’s and been trained by Marie. The MRL Holistic Signature Facial blends Marie’s skin care range with intuitive touch, creating a relaxed experience focusing on feeding and supporting the skin.
This would be my first experience of a facial at Fortnum’s and it totally exceeded my expectations. For starters you’re ushered to a throne, well a seat crowned in ostrich feathers and offered champagne – Hello!
Once in the treatment room…consent form…pre-existing conditions all done! Onto the best part and the words you’ve been waiting for – ‘Please lay down on the bed’. Cue. Big smile.
After the face is cleansed the treatment commences and tailored to suit the skin of the individual with ingredients and products that feed, nourish and support. The massage itself continues into the scalp and upper body, allowing full relaxation.
The holistic facial is not a corrective treatment but a therapy, it works from within yourself to help with all skin conditions by the implicit touch therapy technique. I walked out with skin feeling incredibly bright and soft. Not only my skin but I felt like my whole mind, body and soul were revitalised and renewed. Something I can wholeheartedly recommend for everyone.
