I’m Sima, the traveler behind the award-winning travel website the Curious Pixie! Born and bred in Manchester, I moved to London over 20 years ago and well, never left.
My aim is to inspire readers to escape the everyday and to encourage families to still pursue their wanderlust dreams with kids in tow.
Being a mum of two hasn’t deterred my travel junkie, foodie lusting, culture-seeking ways in London and around the globe. Through a collection of travel and lifestyle tips, along with my destination guides, I hope to help you plan your own trips and create your own memories.

Alongside family travel, I also focus on child-free travel. Bringing to the forefront the importance of parent wellness and wellbeing, by encouraging ME time into your life.
It doesn’t always necessarily mean hopping on a plane. Anything from a couple of hours at a restaurant, enjoying a hobby, a weekend jaunt away or something longer to help recharge the batteries.
How it all began
From TV Production to Travel Exploration
My background is in TV production, I spent 18 years at the BBC working on a range of television programmes from live TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, BBC2 and BBC4 documentaries to live OB’s (outside broadcasts, for non-telly folk). The time came to wave goodbye to all the lights, camera, action and showbiz and focus on my lifelong passion for travel.
the Curious Pixie was born in 2016 from the idea to escape the everyday. From traversing glaciers in Patagonia to canoeing down the River Thames, driving a classic Trabi through the streets of Berlin to luxurious UK staycations. I built a place where I share my adventures near and far. Seeking out the less travelled paths with sustainability, ecotourism and responsible travel at the core of trips.
